Teething Less of A Nightmare
Every person, whether a parent or not, know about the teething nightmares that have haunted parents more than the kids for years on end. The process of teething starts when a child is around 7 months in which he or she can get extremely irritable since the teething process can be painful. It also depends from child to child and the inflammation or pain in some kids is very minute or not there at all. However, most kids do get very cranky and parents are always dreading the whole process.
As teething is painful and there are many remedies present in the market, parents do budge a little more towards the natural remedies instead of the artificial gels that are available in the market but then again, out of several natural remedies that exist, not all of them are safe. Many teething tablets and teething necklaces have now been discarded since there were side effects with a risk of choking or strangulation. Here are a few ways in which you can make teething less of a nightmare for your child and yourself;
Teething Toys:
Teething toys help, they really do but sometimes the circular shape of the toy is unable to reach the small tiny spaces in the mouth to stimulate the gum properly. The best way to do that is to slice a carrot (not super thin) and give it to your baby to gnaw on. The slender shape of the carrot will be nicely able to reach different places in the mouth and stimulate the gum more effectively.
Chamomile Tea Cloth:
Take a clean dish towel or a cloth and dunk it into chamomile tea. Take it out and put it in the refrigerator till it is cold to a normal level and give it to your baby. The cooling effect of the cloth will ease your baby’s discomfort and the chamomile will act as a natural soothing agent.
Toothbrush:
Get your baby the small baby size toothbrush with soft bristles. The shape of the toothbrush will make it easy for the baby to reach places in his mouth, hold the brush efficiently and the head of the brush will help the baby to gnaw on him and to provide gum stimulation.
Frozen Fruit:
Anything with some cooling effect can be very helpful for your child. Get a mesh strainer designed for babies and place a few frozen fruits in it (if your baby is eating solid food). The design of the strainer will allow small particles to be out of reach of the baby so the danger of choking can be avoided.
Teething Biscuits:
Teething biscuits are very efficient especially for traveling. They are a lot let messy and the kids like them a lot too apparently.
The Last Resort:
If all else fails and you feel your child is not getting the hand of anything you have given him, a finger might help. Sounds ridiculous doesn’t it but a clean finger wiped can be helpful for the baby to chew on with his gums a little bit.
